Telefonica O2 Germany Awards Contract to Telmar Network

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Telmar Network Technology has been awarded a multi-vendor spare parts management contract by Telefonica O2 Germany.

Telefonica O2 Germany belongs to Telefonica Europe and is part of the Spanish telecommunications group Telefonica S.A.

The company offers its German private and business customers postpaid and prepaid mobile telecom products as well as mobile data services based on GPRS and UMTS technologies. In addition, the integrated communications provider also offers DSL fixed network telephony and high-speed Internet services.

Telefonica Europe has more than 45 million mobile and fixed network customers in Great Britain, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Germany.

The managed services contract, which will commence in the first quarter of 2009, covers multiple service level agreements in which Telmar (News - Alert) offers in-country warehousing and logistics services and on-site delivery of network replacement units.

As part of the agreement, Telmar will also provide multi-vendor hardware repair, 24/7 call desk support, and end-to-end vendor, warranty and contract management services to Telefonica O2 Germany.

"We are very pleased to be chosen by Telefonica O2 Germany for this managed services contract. We are excited about the opportunity to assist Telefonica O2 Germany with high quality managed services as they continue to grow in this important market," said Steven Pickett, president and CEO, Telmar Network Technology, in a statement.

Telmar Network Technology is a provider of equipment and services to OEMs, Enterprise and Network Service Providers. The company's offering includes compelling communications solutions including repair, asset management, supply chain outsourcing, and professional services, and new, pre-owned and manufactured products.

In January, Telefónica and China Unicom announced the signing of a collaboration agreement with a view to developing their existing partnership.

This agreement prolongs the close relationship existing between Telefónica and its Chinese partners since 2005, when it invested in China Netcom, now merged with China Unicom (News - Alert).
