Mobile phone company Samsung Telecommunications America or “Samsung (News - Alert) Mobile” k the expansion of its enterprise mobility capabilities with the integration of the Samsung Mobile Cloud Center or “SMCC.”
The service enables the company to expand enterprise solutions and services offered to Samsung mobile smartphones, multimedia devices and tablets, including Galaxy S smartphones and the new Galaxy Tab.
The SMCC is a U.S.-based hosting facility with round-the-clock availability and a state-of-the-art cloud computing infrastructure, according to officials at Samsung Mobile.
By adding SMCC to Samsung’s overall enterprise solution, the company is able to leverage the power of existing business software and deliver it to more members of the mobile workforce to realize the promise of anywhere, anytime access to information, according to company officials.
The SMCC hosts the enabling middleware solutions that interface with customers’ existing back-end applications, including the SAP ERP and Oracle (News - Alert) customer relationship management or “CRM” applications, company officials added.
As the cloud infrastructure significantly lowers capital expenses and eliminates the need to purchase additional software licenses and hardware. This would enable customers to rapidly and more cost-effectively deploy back-end enterprise mobility applications.
Customers need minimal software setup and maintenance for SMCC. As the infrastructure is pre-installed in Samsung’s data center, it provides fast and easy mobilization for customer needs.
SMCC, according to company officials, helps companies earn higher productivity and ROI at lower cost of ownership, as well as quick time to value. The central hosting structure gives greater reliability and security, which is a concern in most cloud computing scenarios.
