GENTAG Successfully Tests New NXP Cell Phone RFID Reader Chip

GENTAG, a dealer in the disposable sensors that are compatible with cell phones, has stated that they have successfully tested a new cell phone RFID reader chip from NXP that was blended with GENTAG' disposable RFID sensor platform. The compatibility with the new NXP chip has supposedly put GENTAG at the center of next-generation of cell phones and opened global consumer markets for disposable, wireless sensors using NFC-enabled cell phones.
Officials with GENTAG have commented that cell phones that integrate NFC (Near Field Communication) technology with the newest RFID reader chip from NXP will also be able to read their disposable RFID sensors. GENTAG and its partners have successfully resolved the complex technical issues of adapting a technology meant to read unique IDs to also be used for any sensor application, including analog sensors.
GENTAG' tests and technology platform show that any sensor or device, including passive sensors can now be read by the next generation of RFID cell phones using the company's patented technology, which will create unlimited new opportunities for consumer sensor-application 'bundles' with the next generation of cell phones. The integration of the new NXP chip opens up new market areas such as healthcare where GENTAG senses emerging market opportunities for new painless, non-invasive wireless diagnostic sensors.
The new multi-protocol NXP reader chip (referred to as PN 544 C2) enables both NFC and ISO 15693 and operates at 13.56 MHz, a frequency that is accredited for medical use worldwide.
NXP has asserted that the high-quality, high-performance NFC controller PN544 for mobile phones and portable equipment enables a new range of contactless applications for improved on-the-go experiences. It complies with all released NFC and ETSI (News - Alert) / SCP SWP and HCI standards, guarantees interoperability with the existing infrastructure, and provides a flexible, full-featured platform for meeting GSMA (News - Alert) requirements in next-generation NFC-enabled devices and services. It offers fully host-controllable power states, delivers a small footprint, and supports multiple secure elements.
Also large OEM companies like Nokia (News - Alert) have already announced that all their smartphones in 2011 will be NFC compatible.
