Mplayit Mobile App Store on Facebook Detects Seasonal Appeal Among Mobile Apps



Mplayit, the mobile app store on Facebook (News - Alert), reportedly experienced “the busiest week” for mobile app downloads.
 
Mplayit features apps on Facebook for all three major smartphone marketplaces.
 
It was found that iPhone (News - Alert) users were passing along apps to friends that will help them manage stress during the holidays or entertain themselves or children. Also Mplayit found that BlackBerry (News - Alert) users were sharing those apps which were connected with work or travel.
 
Another remarkable find was that Android users were out shopping as three barcode reading apps found place in a list of the 10 most shared apps for the platform, said Mplayit sources.
 
Many unique applications that are not so well known were also key to an increased amount sharing in the social networking world. On the iPhone Sony Music’s Holiday Yule Log detected seasonal sharing appeal, sources said. 
 
Mplayit also found that the most discussed topic was the Bible. There was more sharing of apps over the holiday weekend that harked on the traditional Christmas message.
 
On the Android (News - Alert) platform -- among the barcode-scanning and price comparison apps -- the innovative Google Goggles app’s popularity showed how a camera phone can help in shopping besides in various other day-to-day activities.
 
Considering the mass market feature phones powered by Java more emphasis was given to games. After recent reports regarding Tiger Woods the mobile game that bears his name seemed to be triggering more interest among mobile gamers. It was the second most shared and discussed mobile Java app during the holiday weekend period.
 
Some of the popular shared apps for iPhone are Finger Physics, iFarm by Play Mesh, Puzzle Paint 3D, Sony Music Holiday Yule Log and Tap Tap Tattoo besides Skies of Glory, Catan and NASA App for iPhone.
 
According to Mplayit, some of the popular Android apps are ReaderScope, Google (News - Alert) Sky Map, Power Manager, Barcode Beasties, Google Goggles, Amazed, Barcode Scanner, Aloqa, OI Update and Pinball.
 
Some of the top 10 shared apps for BlackBerry are TIME Mobile, Trivial Pursuit, Sudoku Lite, Aces Traffic Pack-Lite, One-Touch Photo Dialer and Bible.
 
Mobile Java apps which were shared among users include Cafe Solitaire, Tiger Woods 2009, Sonic Jump 2, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Bejeweled and Cooking Mama.
 
The list of apps was made based on an analysis conducted between December 24-28 Mplayit’s iPhone Arcade, Android Arcade, BlackBerry Arcade and Mobile Arcade on Facebook.
