BlackBerry Service Down Again, Second Outage in a Week



Blackberry customers must be losing their marbles, not to mention their service.

For the second time in seven days, Blackberry smartphone hit a major outage, leaving people without service. And, for anyone who uses a Blackberry, no service is like trying to cook without your right arm.

After having no access to e-mail on Dec. 17, Blackberry users on all four U.S. wireless carriers were affected. And, while the first outage only resulted in loss of e-mail, the second outage on Tuesday, Dec. 22, did not deem the same results.

Confirmed on both accounts by operator Research in Motion (News - Alert), or “RIM,” users on Tuesday experienced large delays in messaging. 

Warnings of the issue were played on BlackBerry’s (News - Alert) support phone line service, with assertions that the technical team was actively working to resolve the issue for those impacted. 

According to reports, hundreds of messages were hitting social-network services like Twitter every few minutes from users experiencing problems. Apparently, the volume indicated that the problems were widespread and across more than one carrier.

With no reports on how long this second outage is expected to last, some BlackBerry users are left without the use of messaging capabilities. And, with the holiday season up ahead and the end of year for many businesses rounding the corner, the limitations on communication come at a very inopportune time. 

Call me cynical, but I have a feeling there will be many BlackBerry grinches this holiday season.
