LG eXpo 1 GHz Smartphone Comes with AuthenTec Touch-Powered Features

AuthenTec, a provider of smart fingerprint sensors and solutions, has announced that its “Smart Sensor” technology has been integrated into the first 1 GHz smartphone in the U.S., the LG eXpo, which will be available for AT&T customers.

According to a press release, the LG eXpo leverages the multiple features and functions of AuthenTec’s (News - Alert) AES1711 integrated input control solution. It does not require pincodes and passwords and sues the exclusive “Smart Sensor” fingerprint recognition from AuthenTec which provides smart and personal security.

The Smart Sensor complements the touchscreen user interface of the eXpo by providing precise cursor control for text editing, 4-way menu navigation and AuthenTec’s turbo-scroll feature for rapid browsing of long e-mails, contact lists and Web sites.

“This is the first time wireless subscribers in the U.S. can experience the convenient security and personalization of an AuthenTec-enabled smartphone,” said Art Stewart, AuthenTec, vice president of mobile systems, in the release.

“We are pleased and proud to support AT&T (News - Alert) and LG in the launch of the innovative and feature-packed LG eXpo and strongly believe that it will help open the door for additional smart sensor-equipped phones in North America as well as Europe and the rest of the world,” added Stewart.

The 1GHz processor incorporated in the LG eXpo helps business professionals to meet data sharing requirements while traveling. The device is loaded with Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional which allows power users to stay connected with e-mail, calendar and Microsoft (News - Alert) Office Mobile. The optional LG mobile projector accessory lets users display Web pages, documents, photos and videos at any time and any where.

The company provides optimized fingerprint sensors and solutions covering a broad IP and product portfolio in the silicon fingerprint sensor industry. It also offers smart sensor hardware, software and client applications for consumer PCs, netbooks and smartphones.

AuthenTec’s touch-powered features provide navigation, personalization, convenience and security to several million PCs and peripherals, cell phones and other products. The smart sensors, software and TrueSuite client applications enable users to secure one-touch access to Web sites, online social networks and digital identity.
