Nokia Continues to Streamline its R&D Operations

Nokia, a globally known manufacturer of mobile phone devices and mobile telecom products, has reportedly announced its plans to align the research and development operations in Finland and Denmark intone with persistent portfolio modifications and possible changes in product range.

 

The company is an established player of mobile telecommunications and one of the top manufacturers of mobile instruments. Currently its provides total digital map information service with NAVTEQ (News - Alert), which uses Nokia Siemens networks to provide device and service related solutions to communication networks.

 

Nokia (News - Alert) employees more than 17,000 employees in its research and development activities all over the world. The company has on its role about 2,000 employees at Oulu Finland and 1,000 at Copenhagen Denmark R&D facilities. 

 

The proposed aligning plans likely to affect about 230 employees at Oulu facility and 100 at Copenhagen, approximately denoting 2 percent of total R&D staff strength of Nokia..

 

Nokia intended to retain maximum number of its employees by relocating and repositioning them to its various facilities. It is expected that Nokia will start holding discussions on the issues with its employee representatives for an amicable settlement. Nokia has plans to offer voluntary separation packages to the employees who could not be repositioned or relocated within its facilities.
