Frost & Sullivan Ranks Avaya at the top slot of Enterprise FMC market

Consulting firm Frost & Sullivan has ranked Avaya Inc. at the number one position of the enterprise advanced premise-based Fixed-Mobile Convergence, or “FMC,” market.

Frost &Sullivan’s Worldwide Enterprise FMC Market report for 2008 puts Avaya's (News - Alert) share of the advanced FMC clients market at 43 percent, which is over 16 percent ahead of the second-place vendor.

According to company officials at Frost & Sullivan (News - Alert), Avaya has also received the company’s 2009 Global Market Leadership Award in the world enterprise FMC market, based on the continued success of its solutions in terms of market share, revenue growth, installed base and the breadth of product portfolio.

Its solid enterprise FMC portfolio, consisting of multiple mobility options and solutions, is the result of a true customer-oriented business strategy," said Alaa Sayaad, industry analyst, Unified Communications (News - Alert), Frost & Sullivan.

Calling enterprise mobility is the most compelling element in the Unified Communications stack, according to Frost & Sullivan company officials. 

Frost and Sullivan defines enterprise FMC as any feature, service or product that allows a mobile device to connect with the corporate PBX (News - Alert) or WLAN to either extend corporate features and applications or deliver cost-related benefits through the integration of wired and wireless networks.

Avaya’s communication equipment and software integrates voice and data services for customers including large corporations, government agencies and small businesses. 

Avaya was acquired by Silver Lake Partners and TPG Capital for $8.2 billion in 2007.
