APconnections Enters Sixth Year of Managing Network Congestion

APconnections, a Colorado-based provider of traffic shaping appliances for the network, recently announced that it has marked its sixth year as a "virtual corporation."

APconnections is primarily a provider of bandwidth control and Internet/WAN optimization appliances to any network topology, thereby offering solutions for both network and access point (AP) congestion. Among its major products are NetEqualizer and AirEqualizer (News - Alert). Both help in setting of bandwidth limits by fairness, host, subnet, MAC address or port, says the company.

The NetEqualizer is a plug-and-play appliance developed for bandwidth control and WAN/Internet optimization. Specially designed for voice and data networks, the appliance features unique behavior shaping technology that gives priority to latency-sensitive applications like VoIP and email, when the network is congested.

According to APconnections, its NetEqualizer (News - Alert) appliance dynamically and automatically controls traffic based on current network usage. This flexible and scalable solution leverages fairness algorithm. This helps network managers and operators to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction without having to purchase additional bandwidth.

The AirEqualizer is for wireless access points (APs) and features APconnections’ unique traffic-shaping technology, which helps in eliminating access point brown-outs and lock-ups. These APs control congestion without manual tuning, says the company. This automatically relieves congestion between AP and network or AP and Internet, when usage levels reach a certain limit.

Being a direct seller, or “virtual company,” APconnections says that it has removed the necessity of middlemen.
