Ericsson and TeliaSonera Intro Personalized Ad Solution in Sweden

A new mobile advertising solution from Ericsson and TeliaSonera (News - Alert) will allow companies in Sweden to offer ads tailored to fit consumers' personal needs and interests.

Both companies have signed a first of its kind agreement for personal mobile advertising to tap the growing market for mobile advertising. Personal Pod Advertising is currently being implemented and is scheduled for commercial launch during 2009.

Ericsson’s (News - Alert) Personal Pod Advertising service will benefit the companies with loyalty programs who can now offer consumers a new way of receiving ads according to their interests.

As part of Ericsson's Mobile TV solution, the Personal Pod Advertising service allows advertisements to be sent out as podcasts overnight when traffic is low. Thanks to the solution, the operators earn revenue on ads sent out, and the retail companies can track consumer behavior and interact with specific target groups.

Consumers can create a personal user profile on advertising companies' Websites to shows their areas of interest. Once the companies know their preferences, they can send regular updates on consumers’ favorite brands via text, video or radio advertisements sent to their mobile phones.

Mikael B (News - Alert)äckström, president Ericsson Nordic and Baltics, noted that Personal Pod Advertising shows Ericsson's expertise in developing innovative multimedia solutions to create new business models and help operators increase revenue streams.
An alliance with Ericsson has allowed TeliaSonera to enter a new market segment offering retail companies a new tool for reaching consumers with specific information and advertising which the consumers themselves have signed on for.

“This service has also been successfully developed and tested with a media company in Sweden,” said Erik Hallberg, senior vice president and head of at TeliaSonera Mobility Services in Sweden.

Last week, Ericsson announced it partnered with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Sweden to reduce global CO2 emissions.
