C.J. Driscoll Releases U.S. Mobile Resource Management Systems Study

C.J. Driscoll and Associates, a provider of market research and consulting services for GPS and wireless communication enterprises, recently published a study of the U.S. market for Mobile Resource Management for 2009.

 

The study found that managing fleet vehicles, trailers, construction equipment and mobile workers required 3.6 million GPA/wireless devices.

 

Officials at the firm also predicted that the market was likely to shoot up to 6.5 million units by 2012 with $2.5 million in revenue from annual hardware and services. The appreciation of the efficacy of the MRM solutions in the fleet tracking market is believed to be the cause for this growth despite the overall slow-down of the MRM market expansion. The success of MRM solutions is also believed to be responsible for increasing fleet productivity and reducing operating costs.

 

According to the study, the expansion of the comprehensive Mobile Resource Management market expansion has lessened and lost momentum this year. The recession is a major factor.

 

The emerging market for managing mobile workers with GPS-equipped cellular phones and other portable devices is discussed in detail in that study, as well as the markets for monitoring mobile assets, such as fleet trailers and heavy equipment. The firm also assessed the current market penetration of MRM systems and services and has managed to project annual subscriber and revenue growth through 2012.

 

In the second half of 2009, officials at the firm say, they plan to carry out a new multi-client study. They propose to estimate the U.S. consumer interest in services in terms of location. Vehicle navigation systems and telematic applications will also be scrutinized.
