ForeScout's CounterACT Wireless Integration Kit Interoperable with Meru

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributor

ForeScout Technologies,  provider of the CounterACT policy creation and enforcement platform for network insight, access control and compliance, has announced that its CounterACT Wireless Integration kit has been tested and proven interoperable with Meru Networks.

The testing allows customers to deploy ForeScout solutions on Meru’s WLAN infrastructure without doing their own extensive testing.

The interoperability testing was done at the Meru’s Wireless Interoperability & Network Solutions (News - Alert) (WINS) lab where experts verified the interoperability of the ForeScout CounterACT NAC platform with Meru’s virtual cell wireless infrastructure.

CounterACT Wireless Integration kit is designed for networks with mobile clients such as guest/contractor and employee laptops. Consisting of a software plug-in for control of wireless network controllers and access points, the kit delivers a number of benefits such as ensuring Wi-Fi clients connecting to the network are monitored, are in compliance with security policies, up-to-date with necessary patches, and are free of malware.

The kit is available through local ForeScout representatives, and supports the entire family of Meru wireless network controllers.

Ayelet Steinitz, vice president of business development, ForeScout Technologies indicated that their CounterACT Wireless Integration kit allows managers to immediately  reach into their product’s rich network insight and access control capabilities without modifying their infrastructure or significantly impacting their end users.

Elaborating further on their kit, Steinitz said that it offers a highly effective solution for wireless network access control and provides information about connecting devices through the wireless access points or wireless controllers. CounterACT can detect and instantly block critical threats from gaining entrance through any wireless access point, and display comprehensive information about the wireless access point on the host console.

Sarosh Vesuna, vice president of business development at Meru said that their company aims to simplify and speed the deployment of secure WLAN infrastructure by providing its customers with access to WINS certified best-of-breed technologies from security partners such as ForeScout.

Vesuna is confident that the customers will immediately benefit from ForeScout's access control, regulatory compliance, vulnerability assessment and remediation solutions.

Fixed Mobile Convergence

encompasses a wide range of mobile services that converge elements of fixed communications infrastructure to complement the core mobile service. In most cases fixed mobile convergence (FMC) services allow the user or the network to take advantage of higher speed, cheaper local unlicensed access networks in local environments for lower value, high volume transactions.

BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) converges office desk phones and BlackBerry® smartphones, allowing users to access standard enterprise voice features whether at their desks or on the go*. BlackBerry MVS encompasses BlackBerry® MVS Client software for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry MVS Services of BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, and the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite.

With BlackBerry MVS, BlackBerry smartphone users can access enterprise desk phone options directly from the menu interface of the BlackBerry phone application, while at the same time securely authenticating to the organization’s enterprise telephony system (PBX). BlackBerry MVS also gives IT administrators the control to set voice policies on the BlackBerry smartphone, so that inbound and outbound calls use the enterprise line. This allows for all mobile calls to be logged or recorded for compliance with regulatory or corporate standards.
