T-Mobile Intros Mobile Devices for Holidays

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Despite low sales expectations from some analysts, T-Mobile reportedly has unveiled new products and promotions for the holiday season that are designed to help the customers stay connected with each other.

The Motorola (News - Alert) Motozine ZN5, pictured below right, captures and shares photos quickly and efficiently, according to the company. The ZN5 features a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus, Xenon flash and built-in Kodak (News - Alert) imaging and so-called “Perfect Touch” technologies.

According to Wendy Piñero-DePencier, vice president of brand marketing at T-Mobile (News - Alert) USA, the company recognizes that the holidays are about family and special friends, and are a time for making memories.

“Our mission is to deliver products and services that help enrich relationships, and while we understand that not all loved ones can spend the holidays together, our new holiday offerings will help bring people closer regardless of distance,” Piñero-DePencier said.

T-Mobile also has released “cameo,” which comes with its own dedicated T-Mobile phone number. The device enables users to send photos to the photo frame via MMS or e-mail. The equipment also accepts photos directly from camera phones, so there’s no need to upload the photos to a computer or memory stick.

T-Mobile says many of its products can be the perfect gift items in the holiday season. T-Mobile G1, featuring the Android-based mobile platform, is one such product, according to T-Mobile. Featuring a QWERTY keyboard and trackball, it integrates Google (News - Alert) services such as Google Maps Street View, Gmail, YouTube and others.

Then there is Research In Motion's BlackBerry (News - Alert) Pearl Flip 8220, the first flip BlackBerry. Users use it to text, e-mail, instant message or take advantagte of other voice calling features. Another product, the Samsung Behold sports an ultra-thin design, a large touch-screen display, a full-QWERTY on-screen keypad with vibrating feedback, a 5-megapixel camera and a video recorder. The Samsung Behold will be available beginning Nov. 10.

BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) converges office desk phones and BlackBerry® smartphones, allowing users to access standard enterprise voice features whether at their desks or on the go*. BlackBerry MVS encompasses BlackBerry® MVS Client software for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry MVS Services of BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, and the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite.

With BlackBerry MVS, BlackBerry smartphone users can access enterprise desk phone options directly from the menu interface of the BlackBerry phone application, while at the same time securely authenticating to the organization’s enterprise telephony system (PBX). BlackBerry MVS also gives IT administrators the control to set voice policies on the BlackBerry smartphone, so that inbound and outbound calls use the enterprise line. This allows for all mobile calls to be logged or recorded for compliance with regulatory or corporate standards.
