TierOne Networks Complete Acquisition of Cool Access

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

TierOne (News - Alert) Networks has completed its acquisition of Cool Access, based in Mesquite, Texas. The deal, valued at $2 million, includes the addition of more than 2,000 wireless Internet customers and 31 towers to TierOne’s assets.

The wireless towers are located strategically to provide broadband access to residents, businesses and school districts. Grandview ISD, Caddo Mills ISD and portions of the Lone Oak ISD are included in the new school districts.

“This acquisition underscores our focus to grow network coverage area while supplementing and supporting this growth through targeted acquisitions of strategic WISP properties that complement our existing infrastructure,” said  Kevin Weaver, president and CEO at TierOne, in a statement. “Together, TierOne will become the largest and fastest growing WISP in the state of Texas. We look forward to continuing to create shareholder value and providing excellent service to the communities we serve.”

TierOne provides wireless broadband services to smaller or secondary rural markets that are underserved by incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs)and cable TV operators. The Commercial Office Building Solution provides building owners and managers the ability to profit from the “Fourth Utility”. At the same time, tenants are offered lower price services, high speed bandwidth, mobility solutions, IP communications and maximum flexibility.

By acquiring both Lavon Shore Wireless and Cool Access, TierOne has created a network that can serve 225,000 households, and two dozen school districts.

Cool Access sells, installs and supports DISH network and Starband Satellite Internet Services along with local high-speed internet service.

BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) BlackBerry® Mobile Voice System (BlackBerry MVS) converges office desk phones and BlackBerry® smartphones, allowing users to access standard enterprise voice features whether at their desks or on the go*. BlackBerry MVS encompasses BlackBerry® MVS Client software for BlackBerry smartphones, BlackBerry MVS Services of BlackBerry® Enterprise Server, and the Ascendent Voice Mobility Suite.

With BlackBerry MVS, BlackBerry smartphone users can access enterprise desk phone options directly from the menu interface of the BlackBerry phone application, while at the same time securely authenticating to the organization’s enterprise telephony system (PBX). BlackBerry MVS also gives IT administrators the control to set voice policies on the BlackBerry smartphone, so that inbound and outbound calls use the enterprise line. This allows for all mobile calls to be logged or recorded for compliance with regulatory or corporate standards.
