Viettel to Offer Mobile Email in Vietnam

Viettel Telecom, a subsidiary of Viettel Corporation and a mobile operator in Vietnam, has announced it will be commercially offering Critical Path's (News - Alert) consumer mobile email solution, Memova Mobile, to deliver push email to their subscribers in Vietnam.

 

Viettel has branded the service as "I-Mail"and with nearly 25 million active subscribers, says it will be the first operator to launch consumer mobile email in that country.

 

Critical Path delivers services enabling users a better email experience, rich multimedia sharing capabilities and on-the-go access to email. Memova Mobile works on virtually any mobile phone and does not require users to download or install client software. The service delivers email and personalized news, blogs, music, sports and other popular consumer content to mobile phones.

 

Additionally, the service offers an easily managed inbox, delivering email messages only from approved sources, thus delivering a secured and safe service.

 

"Vietnam is one of the fastest growing mobile markets in the world. Viettel is a market leader and we are excited to be partnering with them to bring the first mass market mobile email service to Vietnamese consumers," said Sanford Law, director of North Asia, Critical Path.

 

Viettel chose the Memova Mobile after great demand from subscribers who used the service on a trial basis from July 23^rd until August 31^st.

 

The company is aiming to launch the service commercially by end of this month and will offer the service for 15,000 VND per month, which includes unlimited inbound email messages.
