Telit Wireless Solutions recently announced that it has selected Calixto Systems to act as its India Competence Center. Calixto Systems Pvt. Ltd is an embedded product realization firm based in Bangalore, India.
Telit Wireless (News - Alert) decided to go with Calixto due to the company’s expertise in designing GSM/GPRS/CDMA/GPS-based products. Another factor that influenced Telit’s decision was that Calixto had vast experience in high-level system design, hardware design including PCB design, software and firmware development.
In a release, Ashish Gulati, country manager of India Operations at Telit Wireless Solutions said, “This partnership with Calixto Systems as our India Competence Center is a significant step for Telit towards strengthening its position in the Indian market. Calixto's proven experience in high-level system design and knowledge of the Indian market will help us reduce product development lifecycles and offer our customers highly cost-effective and impactful solutions that meet their unique needs.”
He continued, “In addition to having established relationships with different stakeholders in the entire product development ecosystems, Calixto already has proven reference solutions for a large variety of applications across sectors. The integration of our world-class modules into their designs should enable us to quickly expand our footprint in India - addressing high-growth markets such as AMR (Automated Meter Reading), telematics and remote monitoring.”
Calixto Systems, in collaboration with Telit, has successfully developed four solutions that are based on Telit's GL868-DUAL product, one of the smallest GSM/GPRS surface-mounted modules available. These solutions include Data Concentration Unit (DCU) for electrical sub stations; Unique GPRS tower-based tracking unit; Entry-level monitoring and control solution and Intelligent remote monitoring and control solution.
