According to a recent Match.com survey, 62 percent of Android (News - Alert) users have ‘gotten lucky’ on a first date. In contrast, 57 percent of iPhone (News - Alert) users and just 48 percent of Blackberry users have been so lucky on Date Number One. True romantics, however, should look to iPhone owners. iPhone users will most likely call the day after a first date, while Blackberry and Android users usually wait two to three days, according to the report.
The survey also found that Android users were more likely to have a one-night stand and that almost three-quarters of Android users had used an online dating site. Also, seventy-two percent of Blackberry users responded that they were likely to drink alcohol on their first date. And nearly one-fourth of iPhone users have had an office romance in the last five years.
Polling firm Zoomerang conducted the poll for Match.com, seeking answers from over a thousand Canadian singles. Of the thousands surveyed, approximately 75 percent credited E-Mail and texting with significantly improving their dating lives. However, don’t go out to purchase your Android phone just yet.
Match.com is not the only company to look at how dating habits correlate with a favorite mobile phone platform. A 2010 analysis by OKCupid revealed that iPhone users have had an average of 12 sex partners by age 30. Blackberry users by contrast have had eight, while Android users have merely had six.
Another survey taken by TeleNav in the summer of 2011 found that lovers may be willing to ditch their partners for their mobile phone. Fully one-third of all mobile phone users would willingly forego sex for one week in order to keep their mobile phones. Twenty-two percent said that they would stop seeing their significant others for a week in order to keep their gadgets. Seventy percent agreed that they would give up alcohol to keep their phones, while 63 percent agreed to give up chocolate and 55 percent expressed willingness to give up caffeine.
A British sex survey also found that 27 percent of iPhone users had filmed themselves while doing the deed. Only 15 percent of Samsung (News - Alert) users had done the same.
