Hy-Vee Unveils Mobile Shopping App to Make Shopping Easy and More Social
January 24, 2012

The Hy-Vee supermarket chain announced the debut of a mobile app for customers that promises to make shopping easier, faster and more social. The smartphone app includes several interactive features that help customers with meal planning and preparation, and get access to store and pharmacy information besides other facilities. Hy-Vee operates 235 supermarkets and drugstores in eight Midwest states in the United States.

In a release Ruth Comer, assistant vice president of Media Relations for Hy-Vee said, “We decided to jump into the social media conversation and make our stores easier to navigate by developing an app that helps you find the foods you’re looking for faster, and even tweet about what’s missing on our shelves.”

The features of the app enable customers to locate products by store. Also the voice-activated Product Locator enables customers to directly access the aisle and shelf of the product they need. They can also browse weekly ads, search recipes and build shopping lists besides being able to create shopping lists on the go.

Users of the app can browse through recipes and the store’s weekly ad thereby easily including all the items they want to purchase onto their list. Using the app all sorts of items such as floral, eatables and other bakery items can be purchased by a few clicks.

Officials said that users can also interact with Hy-Vee via Social Media. The app enables easy interaction via Hy-Vee’s social media channels besides allowing users to report out-of-stock items via Twitter (News - Alert).

“This app gives us another way to communicate with customers, and fulfill our mission of making lives easier, healthier and happier,” emphasized Comer.

The free app is built on the AT&T Mobile Enterprise Applications Platform by leveraging Taqtile Mobility’s SHINGLE solution for retail.
