Openet Parental Controls Solution Mitigates Smart Devices' Risks to Children
Openet (News - Alert), a provider of Service Optimization Software (SOS) to tier-one communications service providers, has made an update to the Openet Parental Controls solution. The solution is designed to help parents protect their children from cyber-bullying and other dangerous behavior by monitoring their mobile activity and by managing their mobile usage directly from a smart device by leveraging Openet's Policy and Charging Controls (PCC) suite.
Due to the number of features and apps available on smartphones, children are now exposed to threats such as cyber-bullying, exposure to adult content, excessive usage and more. By making use of Openet's Parental Controls solution, parents will now be able to set boundaries for their children's use of mobile devices, which are then enforced by the network.
In a release, Michael Manzo (News - Alert), CMO of Openet, said, "Smart devices are everywhere and that's a good thing. But it's also a significant worry for parents who cannot physically monitor their children's every action on phones and tablets. Openet's Parental Controls solution represents significant value to parents, and is an excellent example of Openet's industry leadership in enabling new business models and revenue streams."
Some of the controls available in this solution include: activity monitoring and blocking of calls, texts and data usage; rule definition and enforcement for services and time of day; content filtering; and usage and spending limits.
In the fall, Openet announced that its Subscriber Engagement Engine, an evolution of its Policy and Charging Control, was available to subscribers.
