F5 Networks (News - Alert), specializing in Application Delivery Networking, announced that its BIG-IP Edge Client will serve as a SSL VPN solution that provides comprehensive security and mobile access for all devices that run on Android (News - Alert) 4.x or Ice Cream Sandwich.

In a release Mark Vondemkamp, director of Product Management at F5 said, “As a recognized leader in the SSL VPN market, customers continually look to us for solutions to address their evolving IT needs.”

Our Edge Client and Edge Portal applications give users secure, convenient, and fast access to company resources from the corporate and personal devices of their choice. According to company sources the F5’s free, downloadable client is expected to increase mobile user productivity as it offers accelerated client access to corporate resources via a full SSL VPN connection.

For IT professionals F5 has come out with a new version of its BIG-IP Edge Client for “rooted” devices. Using these IT professionals can extend client support for devices running previous versions of the Android OS and also for testing and demonstration purposes.

F5 will also be introducing more support for its BIG-IP Edge Portal in order to ensure managed application access to enterprise Web applications like SharePoint, wikis, and Intranet sites.

The F5 remote access solutions and mobile applications help organizations to securely extend IT support capabilities and maintain infrastructure safeguards. Also organizations can customize IT policies to meet specific compliance requirements and business needs. Organizations can offer full network access or limited Web access to some applications, depending on business priorities and personnel requirements.

Officials added that F5 allows users to improve user experience and accelerate client access with BIG-IP edge gateway. Together the BIG-IP Edge Gateway solution and the BIG-IP Edge Client ensure accelerated application performance for Android devices. This lets users access applications as fast as possible.

F5 Networks announced recently that it is positioned in the Leaders quadrant of the Gartner (News - Alert) Magic Quadrant for SSL VPNs, published in December 2011. F5 SSL VPN solutions provide policy-based secure and optimized access to enterprise applications, with support for all types of users and devices.
