Route1's Canadian Patent Application Receves Approval
January 13, 2012

Security and identity management company Route1 Inc., recently revealed that its patent application titled, "System and Method for Accessing Host Computer via Remote Computer," has been approved by the Canadian Patent Office. The patent covers its MobiNET controller that sets up the connection between a remote computer and a host computer.

Route1’s patent application allows for communication to occur between a host and a remote using a controller. This way of communication can allow the controller to establish a communication channel between the host and the remote, and then the host and the remote can communicate directly with each other without the controller.

Route1’s Canadian patent application was originally filed on February 26, 2007.  In addition, the company also filed a corresponding U.S. patent application on September 7, 2004.

According to the press release, Route1 expects its Canadian patent to be issued in 2012.

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Route1 has been delivering security and identity management solutions that help organizations meet the challenge of providing their people with remote access to enterprise networks while protecting digital resources and sensitive data.

The company offers its secure remote access through The Power of MobiNET, the company’s proprietary communications and service delivery platform. Based on FIPS-140-2 cryptographic modules, MobiNET simplifies the process of meeting stringent regulatory requirements for privacy and security. MobiNET is supplemented with a range of products and services including: DEFIMNET, a private network platform designed to meet military security standards; MobiKEY, a user identification device; and applications such as TruOFFICE, an easy-to-use interface that facilitates office work from remote locations.

Back in November of last year, Route1 launched its TruOFFICE 3.5 software application, which the company believes to be the industry's most comprehensive secure remote access solutions, and recently announced the appointment of retired United States Navy Rear Admiral, Mark S. Boensel to its board of directors.
