Mocana Upgrades VeloDAR Encryption, VeloVPN Client for Android 4.0 'Ice Cream Sandwich'
January 13, 2012

Taking the smartphone market by surprise, the Android (News - Alert) platform has been witnessing rapid adoption by personal and enterprise users worldwide; much of which can be attributed to its open source and flexible structure. In order to address the data security and integrity needs of the enterprise and corporate users, advanced high encryption solutions and services are being introduced by developers on a consistent basis.

Mocana, a provider of device-independent Smart Device Security Platforms securing all aspects of IP addressable devices as well as the information, applications and services that run on them; has announced to upgrade its Android based security products to support the new Android 4.0 ‘Ice Cream Sandwich’ platform.

The company offers advanced solutions for boosting compliance among Original Equipment Manufacturers or ‘OEMs,’ service providers and their customers. A number of well known enterprises such as Cisco, Honeywell, Dell, General Electric, General Dynamics, Avaya (News - Alert) and Harris have been adopting the products developed by Mocana, which had recently been honored with Frost & Sullivan’s ‘Technology Innovation of the Year’ award for Device Security.

Android 4.0 is the latest version of the Android platform for mobile phones and tablets; and the newest releases of Mocana’s (News - Alert) VeloDAR Encryption and VeloVPN Client mobile security products will be supporting the Operating System. Equipped with a range of enhanced features such as easy multitasking, rich notifications, customizable home screens, resizable widgets and deep interactivity; the new Android 4.0 allows users to communicate and share the content of their choice in a streamlined manner.

VeloDAR Encryption by Mocana is a cutting edge data-at-rest encryption solution for the Android platform, and the VeloVPN Client is an advanced IPSec VPN client with latest features and improved cross compatibility.

Although both the solutions have been developed for the Android based devices, still Mocana allows the VeloVPN Client to be customized for installation by enterprises after they buy it. The new versions of both VelDAR Encryption and VeloVPN Client will be provided pre-loaded into the upcoming Android 4.0 devices to be offered by various mobile handset and tablet manufacturers.

“The Android hardware market is brutally competitive,” commented Kurt Stammberger, vice president of market development at Mocana. “These upgrades to our Velo product line will help our customers differentiate their Android devices from the competition, because their devices will be demonstrably safer, more secure and more enterprise-ready than the rest. Mocana is bringing the mobile security expertise that we’ve developed for the military, smart grid, industrial and medical device markets and bringing that experience to bear for today’s mobile enterprise.”

In November 2011, Mocana announced the release of the first set of scientific polling data forming a new index of consumer sentiment. The new quarterly Mocana ‘Device Confidence Index’ measures how comfortable and confident consumers feel about the electronic devices in their lives.
