Unisys USB-Based Stealth Solution Purchased by U.S. Coast Guard
January 11, 2012

Unisys (News - Alert) recently announced that the U.S. Coast Guard had bought 100 units of the Unisys Stealth Solution for Secure Virtual Terminal (SSVT) which will allow mobile workers to securely access agency networks and data while they travel and in between deployments.

The Unisys SSVT is specifically designed to help keep a mobile user's data secure and readily available to only those who have the authorization to view the data. The SSVT brings together the power of Unisys Stealth Solution for Network with a specially designed, dedicated and portable federal government-certified USB device.

It is easy to use, as users only need to plug the SSVT unit into the USB ports of their laptops or mobile devices which will then enable them to securely boot up and establish network connections with an enterprise network.

In a release, Steve Soroka , managing partner of Homeland Security for Unisys Federal Systems said that, “There is a demand from Coast Guard senior officers and civilians to connect securely to apps and email while on frequent travel. The underlying Unisys Stealth technology has been certified by the federal government as a secure solution for protection of data-in-motion across any network, so Coast Guard users can feel confident their data will remain secure while they are working remotely.”

SSVT is responsible for creating virtual “communities of interest”. These are groups that can share the same physical or virtual network without having to worry about another group accessing their data or workstations and servers. Stealth can “go dark” on the network by assigning a cryptographic key to each community of interest, thereby securing the endpoint so it cannot be detected by anyone, only by those who are authorized as part of a community of interest.

In other news, Unisys Corporation recently announced additions to its family of voice-messaging solutions that enable telecommunications services providers to offer more services efficiently and give mobile subscribers new options for reaching contacts and accessing their voice messages.
