Parks Associates to Highlight Connected and Mobile Devices at CONNECTIONS Summit at CES

Parks Associates, an international research firm, announced that it will highlight its latest consumer and industry research in key markets at CONNECTIONS Summit at 2012 International CES (News - Alert) in Las Vegas on January 10.

The company’s focus will be on new connected products and technologies including smart HDTVs, voice controls, Android tablets, and multifunction e-readers that are changing the way consumers access and manage content in the home.

The summit features sessions with Parks Associates analysts and senior executives from Verizon, Best Buy, Motorola (News - Alert), IBM, and other leading companies. They will be discussing the changing entertainment and device landscape and its impact on consumers. CONNECTIONS Summit Networking Reception will be sponsored by GSMA (News - Alert).

Parks Associates, in a press release, said more than 920 million connected devices, including smartphones and tablets, will be sold worldwide in 2012.

Revenues from operator-provided cloud-based value-added services will exceed $8.5 billion by 2015. CONNECTIONS Summit sessions is expected to address the television’s evolving role in the home, content distribution, new value-added services, and consumer interest in the digital locker.

“We have a stellar lineup of participants this year,” said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates, in a statement. “We designed the Summit panels to provide research insight and analyst perspectives followed by an interactive discussion about key business issues and the most pressing challenges in these markets.”

CONNECTIONS Summit includes support from Premier Program Members including Digitalsmiths; IBM; LEVEL Studios, a Rosetta Company; Motorola Mobility; PacketVideo (News - Alert); PlumChoice; Radialpoint; Rovi; Siemens; and Technicolor.

Recently, CES 2012 announced that the show will start with a showdown between Microsoft (News - Alert) CEO Steve Ballmer’s keynote peek into his company’s new products at the Venetian Hotel verses the live 3D big-screen telecast of the Bowl Championship Series college football game being held at the Hilton Hotel Theater.
