Inconsistency in Business Group Accountability Biggest Hurdle to Validity of Fixed and Mobile Telecom Management Industry Says CTEMS
AOTMP, provider of resources, and solutions for improving and measuring performance within fixed and mobile telecom environments, announced the identification of a lack of standard functional group accountability within telecom expense management (TEM) as well as wireless mobility management (WEM) processes by members of the Center for Telecom Environment Management Standards (CTEMS).
CTEMS, which has been established as a collaborative group, specifically focuses on furthering the fixed and mobile telecom management industry. The group provides constant feedback from its membership network of more than 250 members. CTEMS's membership network comprises of multi-functional professionals who come in from the enterprise as well as industry supplier organizations.
In a new feedback from members of CTEMS, it was revealed that invoice processing and auditing are the two most widely used business process tasks which extended support to both TEM and WMM programs. Close to 50 percent members in CTEMS are of the opinion that a certified TEM group is vitally responsible for performance results of invoice processing.
Telecom Engineering and Finance groups were identified as accountable by close to 30 percent of CTEMS members. In 56 percent of enterprises, TEM groups are responsible for auditing activities, while 14 percent of enterprises place responsibility of performance results on the Telecom Engineering group.
Although results across a number of TEM and WMM activities lie with TEM groups, it is not the sole group responsible for business process activities which support TEM and WMM programs. A number of functional groups within an organization such as help desks, telecom engineering, IT help desk, among others have been identified in the feedback as responsible for certain activities.
In a release, CTEMS Founder and AOTMP CEO Tim Lybrook said that, “The lack of standard functional group accountability across TEM and WMM activities can often lead to business process fragmentation. CTEMS has identified that there is a clear lack of overall telecom environment performance visibility as a result of this fragmentation.”
In other news, AOTMP recently announced that IBM (News
- Alert) was the first organization to have an international AOTMP Gold Certified Telecom Professional on staff, following IBM’s investment in AOTMP University credit hours for its global telecom expense management (TEM) and wireless expense management delivery teams.
