Wyse Announces the Availability of PocketCloud on Amazon's New Kindle Fire

Wyse Technology has announced the availability of PocketCloud, the company’s mobile virtualization and personal cloud software app, on the newly released Amazon Kindle Fire.

Complementing Amazon's extensive library of multimedia content by providing remote access to all the files, data, and multimedia a user already owns on their home or office computer, Wyse PocketCloud is an ideal companion to the Kindle Fire.

Now, without the need to pay for third-party cloud services, users can download the free version of Wyse PocketCloud from the Amazon Appstore and instantly start working within any file or application from their desktop, the company stated in a press release.

“Wyse PocketCloud for the Amazon Kindle Fire is an extension of our vision to bring mobile virtualization and personal cloud computing to a wider audience of tablet users,” said Daniel Barreto, general manager of the Mobile Cloud Business Unit at Wyse. “Wyse PocketCloud has already revolutionized the mobile enterprise market with its productivity software, and we now aim to bring the freedom of true mobile computing to Kindle Fire users without the unnecessary costs or security risks of third-party clouds.”

Designed to make the mobile computing experience as easy and manageable as possible, Wyse PocketCloud is optimized for Android (News - Alert) devices and supports a host of features. Along with enhanced automatic sound support, features include a custom keyboard function with shortcut keys designed around the Android keyboard and.

Along with features that allow users to enjoy a fast and highly efficient remote computing experience, Wyse PocketCloud also maximizes the Android user interface with innovative touch-friendly features like Touch Pointer and Rich Gestures.

In August 2011, the company launched its fastest thin clients, the Wyse Z90D7 and Z90DW. The announcement was made at the VMworld 2011, the global conference for virtualization and cloud computing held in Las Vegas, August 29th through September 1st. In connection with the availability of these thin clients, Wyse also launched two new Linux-based members of its Z class family.
