Verizon, Samsung Telecommunications Unveil Fascinate, a Galaxy S Smartphone

Dallas-based Samsung (News - Alert) Telecommunications America, L.L.C., develops and markets wireless handsets and telecommunications products across North America.

The Samsung Fascinate will be powered by Android (News - Alert) 2.1 and is expected to enhance social networking experiences of customers via its Super AMOLED Screen Technology, touch screen capabilities and Samsung 1GHz Cortex A8 Hummingbird Application Processor (News - Alert). The device also features a QWERTY keyboard with SWYPE technology and is available pre-loaded with Amazon’s Kindle for Android app.

According to company sources several accessories can be included with the Fascinate like a Charging Cradle which serves as a phone charger and includes a micro USB wall adapter so customers can view movies, display digital photos, and listen to music. 

The cradle can be used as a desktop speakerphone to make hands-free calls, and it comes preloaded with the Samsung “Desk Home” application. This app allows customers to change brightness levels from day to night besides providing one-touch access to Samsung Widgets and Bing Voice Search.

A car dock that can be attached to the vehicle windshield or dashboard is available which displays turn-by-turn GPS navigation instructions rotating freely between landscape and portrait modes. It comes preloaded with Samsung “Car Home” application which gives access to “Desk Home” app even while traveling.

The backup battery charging system includes a 1500 mAH battery, battery charger and Y-cable which allows charging of the phone and a spare battery simultaneously. The charging cradle, car dock and battery charging system are available at extra cost, said company sources.

Verizon (News - Alert) officials revealed that its customers who purchase the Samsung Fascinate will receive a mail-in rebate in the form of a debit card. On receiving it customers can use the card as cash wherever debit cards are accepted. 

Samsung Fascinate customers have to subscribe to a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan that starts at $39.99 for monthly access and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan that starts at $29.99 for unlimited monthly access.
