Total Merchant Services introduces new credit card processing programme

(Telecomworldwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Credit and debit card processing service company Total Merchant Services (TMS) announced on Thursday a new credit card processing programme for users of most smartphones or BlackBerry devices.

According to the company, the service, provided in partnership with Roampay, includes a small swiping device provided by the company that plugs into the headphone jack on the phone. This allows the merchant to process the charge as a 'qualified' retail transaction, as the device reads the card information directly from magnetic strip like traditional credit card machines.

As a result, the merchant pays the lower qualified rate as opposed to the higher rates associated with keyed-entry type transactions. When a charge is submitted and approved, a receipt is automatically sent to the customer's e-mail.

The processing gateway provided by Roampay is secure and is PCI-DSS and PA-DSS compliant.

The service is available to any new or existing TMS merchant as an add-on service, priced at USD5 per month. The swiping device is supplied free of charge.
